Q-Seattle Events: Tacky Tourist Clubs

Still not sure where to show off that fabulous costume you're preparing on the long weekend/week of Halloween. Well, be sure to add another destination -- or even your main destination down in Belltown at Jai Thai [get directions], 2132 First Ave. at Blanchard.

That's where Seattle Black Pride will present this year's Halloween Carnivale from 9:30 pm until 2 am on Saturday, October 27.

SBP urges you to "Be Creative, Be Sexy, Be Scary. Just Be There." And, of course, there will be prizes for the most creative costumes with cash prizes of $150, $100, and $50 for the top three contestants.

But to really get an idea of what the party is likely to be like, check out SBP's great gallery of party pics from last year's Carnivale. We can't link to the gallery directly, but you can find it on the SBP home page at the bottom of the "Events" menu.

We've mentioned a couple of other art exhibits that open this month, but one that looks to us like it belongs at the top of any intinerary is Queer Eyes 3, a photography exhibit that opens June 10 at Art/Not Terminal gallery at 2045 Westlake Ave [get directions].

A group of 12 notable local photographers will be showing their work at the in the "Subterranean Room" of the gallery. The exhibit runs through July 3 and features a special "Pride Reception" on Saturday, June 23 from 7 to 10 pm.

The third annual exhibition of photographs by members of Image Collective, a group of amateur and professional gay male photographers from the Seattle area. More than just a way to spotlight the work of the individual artists, the show is a celebration of people, places and perspectives as seen, collectively, "through queer eyes".

The works of the twelve participating artists, which range from the blatantly erotic to the esoteric, will be shown together for one month only in a unique blending of personal styles and subject matter.

We offer here just a hint of what you'll see with two stunning images by Andrew Caldwell. (Who, by the way, shot the still popular publicity stills for last year's Queen City Cruise.)

Several more examples from the other photographers can be seen on the bio page of the exhibit website which includes links to the websites of several of the photographers.

Update: Because the model, unfortunately, had second thoughts about displaying the wonderful images, we had to remove a couple of the example shots from this post. Don't worry though -- there's still plenty of wonderful images to see in the show.

Matt and Brian at SeattlePaparazzi.com have added new galleries of pics from the March Gay Bingo party. It was Groovy '70s night, complete with big hair, polyester, and plenty of the usual fun.


And, hey! We heard that, but you're wrong. Those cylindrical things most folks are holding are daubers. That's daubers, used to mark the bingo cards.

If you don't already have your tickets to one of the remaining regular Gay Bingo nights, you're out of luck until June. They haven't yet put up the "sold out" sign for the June 9 Rocky Horror Gay Bingo night. Hurry to make your reservations or drop by the Lifelong Thrift Store [see map]. Other nights are sold out for the year, so you'll just have to find a friend who was wise enough to get tickets early. Or you could get yourself on a waiting list and hope for the best.
But there's another way to get in on the fun at the major fundraising close-out of the games. Tickets are still available for the Black Tie Bingo fundraiser to be held this year at the W Hotel downtown [get directions].

A host committee table that seats ten goes for $2000. "First class" tickets are $200 each. You could get in on the still-elegant "coach class" for $175 each.

The evening includes a cocktail hour+ starting at 6pm. Dinner and entertainment starts at 7:30 pm. You'll be playing bingo in style at the trendy W. Prizes include travel packages to great W Hotel destinations around the country. There will be celebrity callers, unexpected surprises, and, of course, Gay Bingo star GLAMAZONIA.

Local photographers are keeping the web supplied with quick visual records of gay parties and events in town. Photographers Matt Browning and Brian Westbrook have joined together as SeattlePaparazzi.com. They offer pics of recent Gay Bingo events. Browning also has pictures of this weekend's show by Lily Armani.

Malcolm Smith, who has recently offered us shots from the Revival parties has a good collection of pictures up on his site from Whistler gay ski week 2007, WinterPride.

Once again the Emerald City made us feel welcomed and like VIPs. Our event for Revival Sunday seemed to go quite well. The crowd was packed, the music was great, and the place seemed filled with excitement....

As many of you already know, Seattle is home for Ben. So there is a special feeling when we step off the airplane. His mood is brighter and his laugh is even more infectious. This visit allowed us to dance as Project BE, be a part of a photo shoot, and spend time around his home. I absolutely love his family and enjoy seeing them.

He also noticed I-957 while he was here and likes the approach.

Sorry. Your webwrangler has neglected his wrangling duties, but what finally got him to pay attention to this site again was finding a few new pictures for the Rumor Machine. We even added a button to let you automatically cycle through all of the nearly 200 hot studs featured there. (Hint: To start from a random spot, click the "Show Hunk" button before clicking the "Auto Hunks" button.)

The guy who gets the second-most pics in the new set is Marco Dapper, star of the new movie "Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds." It opens Friday, Dec. 15, at the Varsity [get directions]. Check out the trailer:



But as hard (ahem...) as it was to pick only four pics of Marco, we found ourselves unable to resist even more shots of a model, Jonathan Jesensky [office warning: His hot site plays audio], whose innocent+nasty images first caught our (umm...) eye on a Flickr photostream by Pete90291. There are six shots of Jonathan in the Rumor Machine with links to see hundreds more.

If you click on most of the pics on the Rumor Machine page, you'll be transported to the source site with (usually) larger versions of the pictures. (Unfortunately, Genre has taken down the amateur pics that are included in our collection, but it didn't seem worthwhile to deprive you of them here.)

As has been the case for a while, several of the pics come from MostBeautifulMen, but there's also several from a new site with the same mission: HunkyMaleCelebs.com.

And, of course, we do this purely for its educational value. We discovered, for instance, that Taylor Kitsch, who plays the hunky mumbling troubled-teen character Tim Riggins on NBC's Friday Night Lights is from BC and lives in Vancouver. So close.
