Queen City Cruise beneficiaries

How it works

Other non-profit organizations provide volunteer help for Tacky Tourist Clubs parties. Proceeds of the party, after expenses, are divided among the beneficiaries on a sliding scale that is determined by the Tacky Tourist Clubs Board of Directors.

2005 Beneficiaries

Legal Marriage Alliance of Washington

Legal Marriage Alliance of Washington (LMA) is a nonprofit organization educating the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community and the general public on how to advance the civil right of same-sex couples to legal marriage. LMA serves as a clearinghouse for same-sex marriage information in the state of Washington, offering speakers, resource materials, volunteer opportunities, and a public voice for the freedom to marry. The mission of the Legal Marriage Alliance of Washington is to achieve the legal right of civil marriage for same-sex couples in Washington State.

LMA joins The Queen City Cruise as a beneficiary for the second year. (One of the group's active members, Roger Winters, has been on every Cruise since the start. Roger takes on the daunting task of Volunteer Coordinator again this year.)

Seattle Metropolitan Elections Committee (SEAMEC)

SEAMEC is a non-partisan civic organization that rates candidates running for political and judicial office in Seattle, King County, and the State of Washington. SEAMEC evaluates candidates on their knowledge of, record of proven activism for, and commitment to the concerns of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) communities. SEAMEC publishes its ratings in advance of the primary and general elections, so that voters can make an informed choice.

SEAMEC was one of the beneficiaries of the first Queen City Cruise in 1981. It's been onboard every year since then.

Production assistance

Seattle Pride Committee

The Seattle Pride Committee (SPC) is the organizer of the Northwest's largest Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender Pride March and Rally. The Committees works to make Pride events representative of everyone in the LGBT Community in Seattle, and across the Northwest.

SPC joins the Queen City Cruise crew for the first time in 2005 with a squad of volunteers and other production assistance for our main event which is, after all, tiny compared to their series of huge events in June.
