Queen City Cruise

Queen City Cruise itinerary

When: Saturday, August 9, 2008 Noon to 5 pm
Where: Pier 55 to Ballard Locks, Lake Union, and back
Flamboyant show: Pre-boarding show on Pier 55 at 11 am
Boarding: Late entrance is not fashionable at this party. Boarding begins at about 11:30 am Those who are not on the dock at boarding time will be replaced on the boat by standby ticket holders.

Ticket holders must be at least 21 years old. ID required for boarding.
Location: Pier 55 is on the downtown Seattle waterfront at 1101 Alaskan Way and Seneca St. That's our starting and ending point.
Cruise route: Before you board the Cruise, enjoy our virtual tour guide to the Queen City Cruise route. Discover useless trivia about the areas of Seattle that you would see if you could take your eyes off of the on-board sights during the Cruise.
Getting there: Paid parking is available in nearby lots or ride the Waterfront Streetcar route (it's actually a bus these days) from Myrtle Edwards Park (with plenty of free parking) or from Pioneer Square. The streetcar/bus stops at 20-minute intervals on Saturdays. Get off at the Madison Street Station.

A cab to and especially from The Queen City Cruise is a fabulous idea.

Bus it: Another alternative is a festively colored Metro bus. Metro's Bus route 66 leaves from the state ferry terminal (Colman Dock) every half hour on Saturday. It travels to and from Northgate via the U District. Route 16 travels to and from Northgate via Wallingford and Green Lake. It stops at Colman Dock at 20-minute intervals. From the ferry terminal, both routes stop at most downtown transfer points.

Water Taxi: Metro's Elliott Bay Water Taxi leaves on the hour from Seacrest Park in West Seattle and travels directly to the Cruise departure point at Pier 55. Take the 10 am taxi to get to the Pier in time for the pre-boarding show, or the 11 am taxi to get there in time for Cruise boarding. The water taxi returns to West Seattle on the half-hour from 5:30 pm until 10:30 pm. (Be warned, however: there's limited parking in West Seattle.)
Pier preview: You'll see bits of it in our pictures of the preboarding show, but if you'd prefer a 360-degree photo of the pier, check out this page at VRSeattle.
