The State of Washington

Proclamation

WHEREAS, the Tacky Tourist Clubs of America, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization established to provide financial support for other non-profit organizations and agencies, will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Unofficial Seafair Queen City Cruise on Saturday, August 3, 2002; and

WHEREAS, since 1981, the Tacky Tourists have raised and donated over a quarter million dollars to worthy charities from proceeds of the cruise; and

WHEREAS, this year's cruise will benefit the Q-Safety Patrol, Seattle Minicipal Elections Committee for Sexual Minorities, and the Seattle Quake rugby team; and

WHEREAS, none of this would be possible without the support of the community;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gary Locke, governor of the state of Washington do hereby proclaim August 3, 2002, as

Tacky Tourist Day

in Washington State, and I urge all citizens to join me in this celebration of humor and goodwill.
